10 Jan Fabrik Projects Gallery presents The Sweet Life by Betsy Enzensberger

Fabrik Projects is pleased to announce Betsy Enzensberger’s first exhibition with the gallery, opening January 5th and on view through February 16, 2019. The exhibition includes her well-known Popsicles, as well as a new series of mixed media sculptural works.
Betsy Enzensberger creates realistic, larger- than-life sculptures of dripping, frozen treats and other sweet-toothed delights. “Resin looks like candy. It looks delicious and sweet. The shiny exterior has a wet, melting quality,” Enzensberger states. Her Melting series relies on the child-like lure of sweet, sticky lollipops and popsicles to artificially instill intense desire. The colorful confections practically beg to be rescued and consumed.
Enzensberger’s work ranges from life-sized, colorful confections to larger-than-life sculptures. As she sculpts larger pieces, she continuously pushes the boundaries of what resin can do. Each piece she creates is hand-made, one-of-a-kind and cannot be recreated.
